Write Letters to the MoE and others - here's how...Your letters are IMPORTANT! They can be as simple as a statement that you oppose the vertical land fill in a residential area, or as detailed as you wish. Please do not assume that a few well written letters by a concerned minority will make a difference. What WILL make the difference is MANY letters from ALL of us. Catalyst and the Ministry of Environment need to know that a large percentage of the population are opposed to this measure, and the best way to achieve that is by a flood of letters! Besides the flawed and biased Catalyst-commissioned technical report, the main tool the Ministry of the Environment uses to decide this case is your letters. Your silence is presumed to be an approval of the industrial wastedump expansion! Please write letters to these listed recipients. Please mail copies of your letter(s) to: Ministry of Environment: MLA Powell River-Sunshine Coast: Ministry of Environment: Ministry of the Environment: Minister of Environment: City Council: Powell River Regional District You can send more letters to:Catalyst Paper Corporation Third Avenue Management-Head Office: Sliammon Band Council If you would like help with writing a letter, please don't hesitate to contact us here, for assistance in this regard. See also "Letters on file", and please consider sending us a copy for publication on this site! »

the meeting for the Gas Plant proposal on Texada Island
I have been honoured to have attended the meeting this evening, information session, and am glad to report over 600 people attended. All of which are opposed to the proposal of the development for the natural gas plant/opperation.
Texada Island, the surrounding Powell River district and the Sunshine Coast were well represented with many representing from all of the futhest regions from the coast of BC. I am personaly contacting my affiliates in Ottawa, MLA for this region and other provincial legislations to take action and make certain that this development does not happen!
I encourage all of you to do the same... any influencial Canadian officials that may be contacted, please contact them!
This is a Federal Issue, not only a community issue, and needs to be addressed especially by the province, and by the nation!
Most of us are concerned with our future, should we just give our land and resources, our daily well being of health away?
Upon researching the statistics and development plans I have realised how this will become a detriment to our environment and community to allow such an idea to transpire!
I can be reached at

if you would like to pool some resources such as radio annoucements or flyers for the area please contact me.
